Frequently Asked Questions:
  • How is COVID-19 affecting Unimasters' operations?
We would like to inform our customers and suppliers that Unimasters offices remain open for business despite the current global developments. At this point, Unimasters will continue operations with no change in working hours.
  • Does Unimasters accept visitors at its offices and facilities?
Visitors at Unimasters' office in Sofia are served only through entrance A. There is an opportunity to provide protocols for loading and unloading of individual consignments electronically, in which case it is necessary to make a preliminary request to a representative of the company.

Four times a day all surfaces inside the office areas, reception and customer centers are being disinfected, including doors, windows, floors, etc. Disinfectants are provided at all entry points on the territory of Unimasters.
  • What is the borders situation? What happens in countries, which introduce lock-down measures?
With more and more governments issuing new measures, the situation in Europe is evolving very rapidly. Most of the borders are open for freight vehicles, but there are large queues and crossing delays. It is expected that the new "green lane" initiative by the EU will be launched very soon, and border crossing in a green lane will not exceed 15 minutes.

At the Bulgarian border crossing points, the traffic is very intensive, especially at the Bulgarian-Romanian border, where the queues are extremely large. At this stage, no crossing ban is expected.

For more information on border waiting times please consult the publicly available information via this link.
  • What is the operational status of Unimasters' services?
All services provided by Unimasters are functional, nevertheless, delays may still occur. We are in constant contact with our partners in order to offer the best possible solutions. The border situation is expected to improve, which will improve delivery performance.

More information about the current operational status of services can be found here.
  • How is COVID-19 affecting air, ocean and road freight rates?
Airfreight rates are showing an upward trend due to the very limited capacity.

In terms of LCL and FCL sea freight services prices are currently maintained, but are expected to increase due to the planned "blank sailings", ie sailings that have been canceled by a carrier or shipping line due to reduced demand.

With respect to road freight services, prices are currently extremely volatile, with changes mainly due to the following factors:
    - Lack of sufficient transport capacity as many of the trucks are blocked at the borders and others are not moving at all, due to the lack of drivers who refuse to travel.
    - Great dynamics and uncertainty about what's next. New measures are taken on a daily basis, new laws and regulations are being voted on, and all this leads to market uncertainty, which has its direct influence on the market mechanisms for demand and supply of a particular service.
    - Closing of many businesses and factories, which has a direct impact on the volume of freight moved on a daily basis. All of this has a direct effect on rates and leads to great fluctuation.
  • Are there any specific customs regulations during the COVID-19 outbreak?
The offices of the National Customs Agency are working.

There are no prohibitions on intra-EU trade and import from third countries for protective equipment and disinfectants or other goods. The rules of Regulation 402 apply to exports to third countries.

For the import of masks and other protective equipment, there are some additional requirements that depend on the type and purpose of the particular product.
  • How are Unimasters' warehousing operations performing during the COVID-19 pandemic?
All warehousing facilities of Unimasters are functional.

Only employees whose work is directly related to the warehousing facilities are allowed to access the premises, other persons are not allowed to enter.
All warehouse staff wears masks and protective gloves. Disinfectants are provided at all key locations. Doors, ramps, and common areas are disinfected regularly.

Visitor access is restricted. A shipment may be picked up from our warehouse only if an inspection of the shipment is required within the warehouse. Access to the warehouse is only allowed if the customer is wearing a mask and gloves.
  • How is COVID-19 impacting last-mile deliveries?
Unimasters continues to perform last-mile deliveries without any interruptions and/or delays in the service schedule.
  • Are drivers equipped with personal protective equipment when delivering shipments?
Yes. All drivers have the necessary protective equipment - masks, gloves, and disinfectants.
  • Is it possible to use electronic solutions to limit physical contact during deliveries?
For all courier shipments, Unimasters has implemented a brand new contactless delivery process that makes it easy for our customers to confirm receipt of their shipments after receiving an SMS with a confirmation link. In regards to cargo shipments - the standard process is currently preserved, however sending original transport documents (on paper) has been ceased. This measure does not apply for original bills of lading.

More information about the new contactless delivery procedure can be found here.
  • Is it possible to postpone a payment?
During the COVID-19 outbreak, it is of utmost importance to keep the supply chain moving. In order to make sure that the movement of goods will continue, despite all restrictions, the process should not be further interrupted by the postponement of payments.
  • Can my shipment be infected with COVID-19?
No, there is no quarantine period for shipments coming from another country. Unimasters is taking all the recommended precautions in terms of customers' and employees' health and safety.
